Which MLP Kayou Booster Box Should You Buy First? A Buyer's Guide
By Amber
From Newbie to "Pro" (Self-Proclaimed!)
Hi friends! I’ve noticed a lot of new faces lately wanting to dive into the magical world of My Little Pony cards, but the biggest question is always: "Where do I even start?"
I get it. As a self-proclaimed "pro" collector who has saved up to open nearly 40 full cases (not even counting the countless loose packs I bought when I started), I’ve made all the mistakes so you don’t have to. I want to share my perspective to help you find the set that fits your heart—and your wallet.

The card collection:iceberg view
The Budget-Friendly Fun: Fun Shadow (QY)
If you’re a student on a budget or just want to "test the waters," I recommend Fun Shadow .
The Pro: It’s the most affordable. A small box gives you 30 packs (6 cards per pack!), so you get that satisfying "opening" experience for a long time.
The Con: The card quality isn't as high as other series, and pulling a "Major Hit" (High Rarity) from loose packs is tough unless your luck is insane!
The Sweet Spot: Rainbow (CP)
If you love the classic MLP look but still want to stay within a reasonable budget, the Rainbow Seriesis for you. It’s a great middle-ground for fans who want beautiful cards without breaking the bank.

The Collector’s Choice: MOON (HY)
Stepping up in price, we have the Moon Series . Compared to the Rainbow series,Moon offers a much higher chance for premium rarity slots. If you’re chasing those high-tier "Hits," this is the series to focus on.
The Masterpiece: Star (FX)
If your budget allows, I strongly suggest Star.

The Experience: 18 packs per box, 3 cards per pack. Every single card is stunning—thick, premium texture, and the craftsmanship on rare slots is like a work of art. The patterns and the "sparkle" are on a whole different level.
Amber’s Luck: I’ve only opened two boxes of Star, but I pulled rare hits in both! It’s my personal favorite.
Important Notes
Follow Your Heart: I listed these by price, but your personal favorite character or art style should always come first!
Going, Going, Gone: Some early waves are already out of print (OOP), and others are disappearing fast. If you see something you love, don't wait too long!
One Last Tip
If you only want that one specific card and don’t want to gamble on boxes, or if you’re tired of "misses," feel free to ask me! I also sell Singles from my personal collection and trusted sources.
Regardless of how you choose to collect, I hope you enjoy the magic of the process!
Stay magical,
Amber
